This Katsup & Mustard dahlia is our most mesmerizing variety and a CSA favorite. They feature a red inside and yellow tipped petals, and some tend to be more mustard, while others tend to be more katsup. Farm visitors are immediately drawn to their dinnerplate-sized blooms and bright, bold colors from across our fields. Prolific for a dinnerplate dahlia, these are excellent as a garden specimen or cut flower. This listing is for a single dahlia tuber.
Eyes are the vegetative growing points of the tuber. The body of the tuber provides the dahlia with nutrition and energy to grow. Dahlia tubers are visually inspected for eyes before shipping—each tuber will have at least one visible eye. Eyes may sometimes break off in transit, but new growth will come from where the eye was previously.
Each order will arrive with instructions on growing your dahlia tubers. Dahlias prefer full sun, which means 6-8+ hours of sunlight per day. Hold off on watering your tuber until you see it sprout above ground. Each tuber needs approximately 2 square feet of growing space. Dahlias like well-draining soil, so don’t plant them in soil that is too wet. We recommend staking this variety of dahlia.
