Dahlias are the queens of the September garden. We welcome all dahlia fans from the curious, new gardener to the experienced enthusiast to our workshop all about growing this beautiful flower. Learn to plant, grow, and harvest these popular and colorful blooms alongside farm owner and operator herself, Emily G. Round.

About the Workshop:

Emily will explain the best ways to transplant, care for, direct seed, and harvest your Dahlias to ensure an abundant and consistent garden through the growing season. Participants will tour the greenhouse and Emily’s growing field, and will learn Emily’s secrets to growing thousands of dahlias every year (for 9 years!) for florists. Participants will also learn Emily’s methods for storing tubers successfully through the winter.

Each participant will receive 3 of our favorite cutting dahlia tubers from our personal collection. You will need approximately 2’x3’ of well drained garden space to plant these.

Date, Time, & Location:

Weekend classes are from 10:30am-12:00pm. Max 15 participants allowed per class, each ticket is for 1 person.

About Dahlias:

Dahlias come in many shapes and sizes, from mini ball to giant dinner plate. They thrive in well-drained soil, and do well being staked.

Preparing for the Workshop:

This is a hands-on class with demonstrations, so please come dressed to work with plants and soil, and prepared to be in a greenhouse or outdoors. Directions to the farm will be e-mailed to you after purchase. Masks will be required in indoor spaces.
